I made this sniper rifle because I had never tried weapon modelling before and wanted to challenge myself with something new. The most difficult part of this model was the barrel with all the holes, as modelling all the holes radically increased the polygon count. To counter this I baked an alpha of the the high poly version onto 2 cylinders and kept the inner rings to keep the modelled appearance. Overall the project turned out well, if I were to come back to this I would spend more time texturing to give more personality to the model.
